Tribute to our Patron Bill Oddie, OBE

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we learnt yesterday of the passing away of Bill Oddie, who was a committed, enthusiastic and long-standing patron of our High Five Club charity. Bill selflessly gave us his time, his voice and his boundless energy over many years to support our work uplifting communities living in wildlife areas of Africa out of poverty.

Bill was a passionate, long-serving patron who cared deeply about our mission. He fiercely believed that protecting wildlife required lifting up local African communities. He said of the High Five Club “Obviously a wondrously effective organisation. Small, but exquisite in every detail”.

Bill was also one of the world’s most high-profile birdwatchers, a professional comedy writer/actor turned conservationist whose passion for nature inspired generations of wildlife lovers. Bill used his platform to advocate for sustainable futures and grass-roots conservation.

He will be sadly missed.

Our thoughts and love are with Bill’s wife, Laura, and his daughters Bonnie, Kate and Rosie.

Warmly

The High Five Club Team
