We bring glad tidings of the second year of the High Five Club Conservation Football Tournament in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley. And what a success it has been this year!! We are so encouraged about how football is allowing us to get important conservation and health messages to the youth in this rural area.

High Five Club members and our long-term educational benefactor Roffey Homes of East Sussex have together funded the renovation of both the girls and boys dormitories at Chunga School. These were posing a danger to the pupil’s lives as they were collapsing around them!
The pupils had decided to paint images of monkeys and baboons on the walls in acknowledgement that H5C’s support in renovating their dormitories had been delivered in partnership with Zambia Primate Project. This H5C intervention really is a win-win for both people and wildlife!

High Five Club is thrilled to have facilitated grant provision from the Olsen Animal Trust (OAT) to fund the development and upliftment of our partner organisation in Zambia during 2016, Mnkhanya Community Resource Board (MCRB).

The High Five Club continues its support this year of our school “Breakfast Clubs”, in the wildlife-rich Masai Mara in Kenya and South Luangwa in Zambia.
The provision of one nutritious meal a day means that attendance levels at these schools have soared. The children no longer miss class due to being too hungry to walk to school or in their search for food – the latter contributing to the levels of poaching in these wildlife areas.

We are thrilled to share that High Five Club members have contributed towards a ground-breaking new on-the-job teacher training programme in Africa. Teach First is set to raise the bar of secondary school teaching standards in South Sudan, a country that has one of the lowest enrolment rates in secondary education in the world.

Working hand in hand with the Burundian NGO Great Lakes Outreach, High Five Club has supported Bravo Ministries with the purchase of a portable Honda generator for their sewing workshop. The new generator means that the women can produce more goods for sale, helping increase their income and enabling them to become self-sufficient and forge a new life for themselves. The generator is allowing young women and girls to be freed from prostitution now and into the future.
